Book a Consultation

If you would like to find out more about having your teeth straightened, come for an informal chat and I can discuss your options. For simple problems I may be able to discuss your options straight away but for more complicated problems I will need an x-ray and study models.

Full Assessment with X-ray films, Models & Treatment Plan

If you are sure about receiving orthodontic treatment, I will need to carry out a full assessment. This may involve having special x-rays and taking casts of your teeth to make study models. I can use these to identify the problems and work out some options for treatment, which I will discuss with you.

Removal of teeth & other dental treatment

If the teeth are crowded or sticking out, some adult teeth may need to be removed to make space for alignment of the rest of the teeth. This is normally carried out by your dentist, before the braces are placed. I will liaise with your dentist by letter and request for him/her to carry out the extractions as they see best. Any dental treatment required before, after or in conjunction with the braces is also carried out by your dentist. It is important that you continue seeing your dentist as usual throughout the course of orthodontic treatment.

Cost of treatment

Initial consultation without x-rays & models for 30 minutes £45.00
X-rays are normally requested from St. Richards Hospital at a charge of £32.00 per film. Normally one or two x-rays would be required. Your dentist may be able to help.
Treatment cost can vary between £500 and £6000 depending on the type of brace and difficulty of the problem. An upper and lower fixed brace on the outer surfaces of the teeth made of tooth-coloured glass generally costs £3000 and treatment takes about 18 months to complete. The average monthly cost of treatment can vary from £100 – £400 per month depending on the type of brace and duration.

Payment

We require an initial payment of 20% and the rest can be divided over the duration of treatment. We usually request that you pay £150.00 -£200.00 at every 6 week appointment to avoid a large balance at the end. Payment can be made by cheques, credit/debit cards or cash. Standing orders can also be set up. The remaining balance can be paid at the end of treatment.

Appointments

Private patients can be offered evening appointments between 4-6.30 pm on Mondays and 9.00- 1.00 on Saturday mornings twice a month.
